Job Opportunity at the Main Library
The Hardin County Public Library is seeking an outgoing, customer service oriented professional to serve as Head of Youth Services at the Main Library. Under the direction of the HCPL Director, the Head of Youth Services has the responsibility of managing the children’s and young adult departments. The management of these departments includes the continued planning, coordinating and implementing programming for all age groups, supervising the staff, and making collection purchase suggestions for the children’s and youth departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
include planning, organizing, and executing programs for babies, toddlers,
pre-school, and school age children. Other responsibilities include supervision
of the teen librarian and providing friendly and knowledgeable customer
service, collection development, and public relations activities with local
schools and the community. Flexibility, organizational skills, and a love of
children are essential. Some evening and some Saturday work required. Other
duties include working with adult
programming staff for family programs and collaborating with staff at the North
Branch.

MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree
preferred but not required.

Previous experience
working with children in a library, day care, school or similar setting.
·
The ability,
patience, and personality to work with children, parents and guardians of all
temperaments and abilities.

is a full time position requiring 35 hours per week. Benefits include health
insurance and Kentucky Retirement. The
successful candidate will have the ability to obtain a paraprofessional
certificate from the Kentucky Board for the Certification of Librarians.
