*Trust vs Probate: Tax Consequences (4:00 – 5:00)
As the year draws to a close, let’s look at the tax implications of assets in a trust compared to an estate going through the probate process. Guest speaker Steve Wright of the Wright Legacy Group will join us to cover that topic, and also discuss the question of “Who pays the taxes on inherited property?” We’ll also talk about “step-up in basis”: the readjustment of the value of an appreciated asset for tax purposes upon inheritance.
